About
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common functional disorder that affects the gastrointestinal system. It is often associated with a miscommunication between the gut and brain, which can lead to underlying imbalances. Food intolerances can often cause IBS symptoms, with the most common ones being from dairy and grains. Other possible intolerances can be from short-chain carbohydrates (FODMAPs), sugar, fatty foods, coffee, alcohol, and hot spices. Testing for food sensitivities or doing an elimination diet is recommended when experiencing IBS symptoms. Please review the educational handout for more information on IBS. This meal plan is designed with low FODMAP foods that contain key nutrients that are shown to help with IBS symptoms.
